This newly built lodge has four bedrooms, a loft and comfortably sleeps 15 people (ask about bunkhouse accommodations to sleep an additional 10). It has 4 full baths, two stone fireplaces, a fully equipped large kitchen with two ovens, and a wrap-around porch offering plenty of views.

Burkes Garden, which can be visited on horseback, bicycle, or automobile, is just down the road. Known as the thumbprint of God, it is a natural plateau where a recent Lassie movie was filmed.

The Appalachian Trail is less than 5 minutes away, and The Hungry Mother Park is less than 15 miles over Walker Mountain. If you are a music lover, bluegrass gatherings are available weekly, year around.

Although there are numerous local attractions (see the ‘Attractions’ page), the main attraction is the cabin itself and its calm surroundings. Ideal for family or group retreats, the property with its many views, may be enjoyed by hiking or horseback riding. Moderately priced guided trail rides and riding lessons are available from the cabin and for qualified individuals horses can be reserved for the entire stay.

Deep in the woods about a half-mile from the cabin is a corral with facilities for tent camping. Be prepared, it is not uncommon for coyotes to go howling by.

“Cabin in the Blue Ridge” is family owned and is ideal for family and group retreats. Rental prices are moderate (see ‘Rates’ page) and special consideration is given to Christian and church organizations. For these groups 10 percent of the rental price is donated back to the church or renting organization.
